A message from the CMFW Artistic Director, Dr. Francesco Mastromatteo
Meaning in Life, Music of Life
CMFW starts a new life with reawakened energy and even more fulfilling sounds, overcoming the problematic years marked by the spread of Covid-19.
Our mission blossoms with renewed strength, and we are ready to share the gift of music with all people who feel the need for beauty and inspiration. Our aim is to touch hearts and souls with the infinite meaning of classical music; to embrace and inspire the most diverse people; to bring music into our daily lives and throughout society wherever there is hunger for beauty, thirst for passion.
Our musicians include young children, students, music lovers, people of all ages. We are striving for excellence, but we are first looking to honor humanity with a soulful gift – the gift of beautiful sound.
I am so much looking forward to being back in Austin in April for the CMFW Spring Festival 2023: “SOUNDS FOR ALL”, and to sharing once again the notes of my cello with all the people, including fellow musicians and all who enjoy listening to beautiful music. Three years of separation have made me realize even more how important it is for me to perform for CMFW’s warm and appreciative audiences. They are a gift not only to the musicians, but also to the entire Austin community and beyond. Indeed, the enthusiasm that people show at every concert and the passion which they express to others helps to spread the high esteem for CMFW’s concerts, programs, and classes, not only in Austin, but throughout the entire artistic and musical world.
The activities we are resuming together (both musicians and audience) after the sad break of the pandemic is truly a challenge. Music, in fact, is now more important than ever and allows us a path to discover life’s meanings. Although music does not explain the meaning of life, it calls everybody to preserve the gifts of our talents, whatever they are, to find purpose in our days, to find meaning in whatever we do.
Meaning in Life, Music of Life: This is the musical journey of CMFW, with our hearts ready to be filled by the artistry of every sound, and our souls ready to discover anew – through music, through art – who we truly are.
