“East in the West” is a music festival that aims to create a joining between different cultures and perceived realities. Western culture values such things as efficiency, economic success, and new achievements. By contrast, Eastern culture places more emphasis on tradition and creating an inner and outer balance in life. Both cultures have their own merits; neither is superior to the other, and although it is sometimes difficult to merge their differences, music provides a special opportunity to form connections between these two different worlds. In listening, as well as in playing, we are actively doing something, but we are also letting the sound enter us, awaken us, and inspire us…regardless of our different nationalities or cultures. It’s been said that “music is the universal language.”. Music is indeed a bridge that transcends national borders, religions, and cultural differences. During our festival, attendees and performers will breathe in the same beautiful sounds while our minds connect in blissful harmony.
