Join the joyous celebration of the Advent season for hope and peace with the beautiful music of “Let There Be Christmas,” a cantata composed by Joseph M. Martin.
The Covenant United Methodist Church (CUMC) presents their Christmas Cantata annually, together with their sanctuary choir, to celebrate the birth of Jesus and spread his spirit of love and goodwill. This year’s performance will include sponsored musicians from Classical Music For the World (CMFW) and the Austin Civic Wind Ensemble (ACWE).

Cantata attendees can expect to hear beautiful music performed by CUMC Choir members and musicians from the Austin community. The music will be under the direction of CUMC’s music director, Mr. Richard Frazier. Classical Music For the World’s sponsored musicians will include five vocalists and eight string players who are students, professors, and alumni of the University of Texas at Austin Butler School of Music. We are honored to have UT Professors Sandy Yamamoto and Daniel Ching enriching the orchestra with their musical talents. The wind instrument players are members of Austin Civic Wind Ensemble, and CUMC’s Pastor, Wilson Pruitt, will be playing double bass.
From jubilant songs of praise to reflective carols of peace, this cantata is filled with moments designed to enrich the spirit of the season and unite the community of faith.
